We empower
women to tell
their stories.
Prison is a place where real healing can happen.
Through creativity, community, and care, On the Inside helps women reclaim their humanity and rewrite their futures.
We are On the Inside - a nonprofit providing rehumanizing and healing programming to incarcerated women while reducing recidivism and intergenerational incarceration.
How do we do this? Our in-prison classes facilitate yoga, breathwork, and movement.
The On the Inside team teaches 5 weekly classes in Oregon and 13 weekly around the world with a team of six facilitators supporting women and youth to grow, heal,
and change.
The work of liberation
frees us all.
Half of our team has been
previously incarcerated…
……and now uses the OTI facilitation model to mentor women out of cycles of self-harm, addiction, and incarceration. This work begins in prison and ripples out into communities, cities, and the world.
“I don’t teach anything that won’t make your life better.”
— Nikki Weaver, Founder
OTI works with over
5,000 women.
OTI’s class has made such a large impact on the morale of many struggling adults incarcerated. OTI embodies volunteerism and cheerful giving. It was so positive to see the life you helped breathe into these students and I am so grateful for your hard work.
— Paula Myers, Superintendent, Coffee Creek Correctional Facility
Better Together.
WHY US?
We’ve lived this work.
Our team carries firsthand experience through our own incarceration, our families, or years spent inside correctional facilities. We understand the realities, the language, and the trust this work requires. When we ask women to share, we share too.
Every facilitator begins as a student in our four-week course, the same class we teach inside. They experience the process directly, feel what participants feel, and witness the tools in action. This creates facilitators who lead from grounded understanding, not theory.
